Tottenham Boss Left Boiling After Leicester Draw
Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou couldn’t hide his annoyance following his team’s 1-1 English Premier League (EPL) draw with Leicester City FC in Leicester, England earlier this week.
Right-back Pedro Porro put the visitors in the lead at the 29th minute, making the local King Power Stadium crowd sweat. However, forward Jamie Vardy equalised for the hosts at the 57-minute mark.
Despite several misses and the Lilywhites dominating most of the game, the final result ended in a draw. The newly-promoted Foxes were happy with the result, but the visiting coach was left fuming.
Postecoglou didn’t mince his words during the post-match interview: “I thought we were excellent [in the] first half and controlled the game. Really dominant with our football, but just wasteful in front of goal and the same in the second half, and when that happens you keep the opposition in the game.”
On the other hand, Leicester’s new manager, Steve Cooper, was pleased with his side’s resilience, particularly Vardy’s performance, despite his recent injury troubles.
The match also highlighted Tottenham’s ongoing issues with finishing and composure, problems that hampered them in the previous season. Time will tell if they make the necessary adjustments before they take on Newcastle United on 1 September.
